Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, a former Satellite Campus of the Ibadan Polytechnic became autonomous as a result of the signing of the law establishing the institution on October 12th 1992 by the first civilian Governor of Osun State His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke.Therefore, the former Satellite Campus of the Polytechnic Ibadan, which took off on the present site in 1981/1982 academic Session, assumed an autonomous status.  This is as a result of the creation of Osun State from old Oyo State .
 
The Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke which was established 1992 has been acclaimed by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as one of the fatest growing Polytechnic in Nigerian as far back as year 2000, and even the same commendation was given to the institution during the recent visitation by the same body in 2006.
