The main objective of the college is to provide for Student Training and Development of techniques in Applied Science, Engineering Technology, Computer Technology,.ICT, Environmental and Management Sciences as well as in other spheres of learning.
 
The institution provides professional courses leading to the Award of National and Higher National Diplomas in these fields and other awards and Certificates at comparable levels on a Full time, Part-Time and Sandwich basis.
 
Since its Core Courses are in Engineering and Environmental Programmes, the institution mount exhibitions on a regular basis to show case its products and capabilities.  The college also offers a wide range of specialized short courses for the purpose of improving the level of vocational competence of local craftsmen, technologists, technical and commercial workers.  In the process the college has been able to show to the world its competence by presenting the most recent advances in knowledge and techniques to specialists and the public in general. 
 
By doing so, it has developed in its students the instinct for creative development, research and public service in line with its motto: - Technology for Sustainable Development.
 
The College adopts the Faculty system of structuring the academic department to make for easy work coordination and management.  At present there are three faculties of Engineering, Environmental Studies and Management.
 
There are at present 16 Departments in the institution and each department is responsible for the teaching and research in its own particular field.  Each department is staffed by a number of lecturers of various grades and is headed by a senior Member of the Academics designated as head of department.
 
Subjugation of negative tendencies that could put the name of the college into disrepute such as cultism, general apathy and indolence.  Improvement of laboratory and workshop facilities.  Provision of physical facilities e.g. lectures theatres and classrooms.  Opening up opportunities for cordial relationship among staff, between staff and management as well as staff and students.
